RCL| Lost Voices: Passion Blog

Lost Voices:
Today in America’s society there is a large whir of issues surrounding us, and it is social media that is drowning it out. However, in the same token there are people that are using social media as a means of expertise to help expose some the issues that we have going on.

As young children we are taught that if we do not like something we are to cover it up; so why is it that people are so baffled that this is an issue happening within our government. One may not know that there are jobs within American government set specifically to spread lies so as to cover up the latest scandal. These scandals are cries for help, and it is mainstream media that makes a way to cover for it but it is our duty to make it come to an end.

One must look back at the Holocaust when looking at these scenarios. Had the world listened to the cries of the people that the Nazi’s were out to hurt; then the matter never would’ve been able to expand so much. So explain, why is it that when there is an issue within America that everyone is so ready to place a muffler on the screams of those that cry for help.

If one looks at America like a brand new Harley, one would understand the issue. When you ride on your motorcycle, you become one with your bike. When she is humming and purring you can feel that there should be a smooth ride. However, if she starts to choke and sputter all over the place; than you can expect to find yourself on a bumpy ride and possibly even crash. The muffler that America has been currently using on twitter and instagram is #AllLivesMatter which is 100% true. Yet the issue with this cry, is that it is deterring you from the original issue at hand. #BlackLivesMatter was a call from the African American’s to all of America to draw attention to the issue of the lives of African Americans being disregarded for. #AllLivesMatter just minimized the effect of the issue at hand.

I choose the topic of lost voices because it is something that I can personally relate to. There’s a large chance that soon enough that #SandraBland could easily be turned to #JusticeForJamirah. I have a large voice I plan to use. There is no more room for mufflers on America’s Harley. It is up to us to pay attention to our ride and give her a tune up when things go wrong. Thus the reason why I will make my blog about the way media silences the cries of the people, although they claim to be helping us. The people.

  1. Jamirah, Holocaust example is a very good way to make people to understand your topic. Many Teenagers don't know how media manipulate us because we are not aware about it, but your passion blog is going to be the one that enlighten people with the information that shows how media deceive us. I think you chose great topic for your passion blog. I will definitely invest my time to read your thoughts and idea in your passion blog!

  2. Great ideas! Your passion blog is one that many can relate to and understand. I like your use of comparison with the Holocaust and motorcycle to better help people understand your point. One suggestion I have is for a better flow when reading be less repetitive. (Ex one must, if one)

  7. I can sense your passion and urgency as you explain your approach, Jamirah, and that's a perfect entry point into this assignment.

Race is a hot topic -- painfully and rightfully so! -- in our country now, and it needs to be discussed. I'm glad you're headed this route; you'll have much to say.

Side note: I'm a sucker for analogies. Nice Harley comparison.
